Sale away... Garage sale, that is

This past weekend our neighborhood posted signs for a community garage sale, and much to my surprise, my husband asked me if I wanted to go look around Saturday a.m.  Whaaaat?  Of course I would!  I was so shocked that he would actually want to do that, I almost choked!  So we got up, got ready and went out late (had to wait for the bank to open so he could get some $1's), around 9:45'ish, to check out the goods.  My facebook status said that, "...this could be pinteresting," and I was excited!  What could I find to make shabby chic, which is my unofficial decorating style.  Well, I found a very retro table w/6 chairs for $75!  I loved it, but only 65%, so I passed on it.  However, I did find one house that did all shabby chic & got her email address.  She told me that she's going to do this out of her garage maybe once a month - which is great, b/c it's literally on the next corner from my house.  I passed on her items, just b/c I don't have the space for it.
I did find some lovely things a few streets over.  A girl was selling an entire set of dishes (service for 8), tea/coffee cups w/the saucers, fruit salad plates, bowls, gravy boats, sugar/creamer dishes, 2 large vegetable bowls, large platter... you get it.  The set! It has little pink roses on the rim, w/a gold lip.  I passed on it, but was thinking, omg - pinterest and all the other things I've seen for shabby chic pieces like these show I can use it for everyday!  Like cotton balls, jewelry trays, make up trays, whatever.  We walked around the block and I went back.  For $8 I snagged a sugar bowl, gravy bowl w/a saucer & a fruit salad plate.  So cute!  $8!  (My one day baby girl will have a shabby chic room, I've already decided!)

After we went home to drop these things off, we got in the car and drove to the back of the neighborhood, where I picked up a brand new, cobalt blue le creuset 6qt stock pot w/the pasta/steamer insert!  I just looked it up online and the stock pot is $55, and I got it for $5.  We also picked up a little freezer for the garage & a cooler for $55 total - a killer steal on the cooler, btw, and some chains for Don's boat.  All in all, it was a good day!  Pics below.
What fun things have you found at local garage sales?

Trash To Couture: XL Mens Tee Sewn Into Dolman. Directions + Video

I came across this site while looking on pinterest, and I've got to try this one.  her site has a lot of different things to redesign.  Oh to actually sit down and do these things.  Am I the only one that spends more time "pinning" things to my boards on pinterest, rather than actually doing the crafts/ideas?  I know I can't be... right?

Has this ever happened to you (or something like it)?

Interesting thing happened to yours truly today whilst shopping at my local drugstore today…
As most know, Don & I are trying for a baby, and I had purchased an ovulation kit to try to help us find our window.  Since we missed it last time, I wanted to pick up another kit.  So I went to do so, and on the aisle, it was listed as $19.99 (7day pack, store brand).  On the end of the aisle, they were listed at $17.99.  I stood there and wondered if I should swap the one I got down the aisle for one out there, even though it was the same brand.  I thought, “nah, surely they’ll ring up at $17.99.”  It was listed that way on 3 rows, so it wasn’t misplacement.  I walked away w/that little voice of doubt thinking the worst.  As I went to the register, a line was slowly forming behind me as I put my parcels on the counter.  The cashier started to ring things up, and I asked him if “it” (I pointed to the kit in the bag, rather than saying it out loud) rang up as $17.99.  It didn’t.  He would have to do a price check.  I suggested we cancel the order, and I could go to the register in cosmetics to do the price check, b/c of the line that was getting slightly longer.  Nope, he had already called on the phone for a price check.  The line was now about 6 or 7 deep, and the manager popped up at the very end of it (about 10-15 ft away), and asked what we needed.  Rather than hollering out “the ovulation kit” he kindly held up the box.  Well, what would you do if the manager standing behind you, asks the cashier, in front of you, what they needed to check?  You would look, right?  Of course!!  So they all did, and 2 ladies’ eyes got as big as could be, and I just turned red.  The man behind me just looked and I, acting as a lady would, just said, laughing, “Well, I’m trying for a baby! Oh my goodness…”  So the manager then walks over to where they were, and I turned to the cashier and said, “at least you didn’t yell it out, but they all looked anyway!”  I think he was embarrassed, or just not all there…  The manager found the aisle, and from 20 ft away, hollers out, “is it the 1 step test?”  I just was turning as red as a tomato.  (Yes, just bring it, omg!!!)  He walks back to the front, knowing it was embarrassing, and kindly said, “this lady’s trying to have a baby, let’s get her on her way.  Ring it up and key it in at $17.99.  The entertainment’s free!”  Talk about a random thing to happen!  Let’s hope Don & I get that window right, so I can waltz into that drugstore and say, “price check on stretch mark cream!”

It's Friday.....

Who's excited?!?  I am! I am!
I am looking forward to doing not much of anything this weekend!  I had such a busy one last weekend, I'm really looking forward to maybe finishing some projects around the house, possibly making some jewelry, bathing little Coco (and getting her a new bed).  You know, "me time."  (Saying it and doing it are two verrrry different things!)
I've had fun posting my outfits for the week, and I hope that y'all have enjoyed them.  I've got them all at my link on polyvore, http://lhejtmanek.polyvore.com/.  I think I'm going to start posting just one outfit of the week, my fave.  Oh, like fave-outfit Friday!   Or something cute like I see on other bloggers' bloggy blogs. You can pretty much tell that I'm casual, but still updated w/my looks.  I can't really do too casual, b/c I seem to forget where that line is between too casual and down right messy.  Another thing, I get a lot of my clothing from Old Navy.  I never thought that this would be me, doing most of my shopping there, but now I like to find basics, solid colors and then add accessories like scarves, earrings and bracelets.  I actually get a lot of their clothing online, w/sales, and magically most of them work out for me.  I don't go shopping high end stores, b/c most of the time, being at the upper end of the clothing sizes, things there are more for smaller frames, or taller.  I'm 5'4".  I have a ddd chest.  Yes, you read that right.  I am also a size 16.  There, I said it.  I may be embarrassed later, but you know, you see me, you know I'm not an 8 or 6, so I'm okay w/that.  I would like to be a 10 or an 8 again.  One day.  ;)  I'm working on that - aren't we all?  haha... But seriously, that's a whole 'nother blog topic, that I will touch on soon enough.  So getting back to it, I shop at Target, Old Navy, oh, and forever 21.  I think that if you have some basics (solid color tees, cardi's, tanks, whatever) & good jeans, you can build just about any outfit.  Jacksonville needs an H&M store badly. I think I would have to buy stock in them!  I layer everthing.  Jeans, tank/blouse, cardi, cute shoes, etc.  That's my uniform!   I am a member of jewelmint.com and love their things.  I also adore Amy Cornwell's designs.  They're super cute, unique, feminine, affordable!! http://amycornwell.blogspot.com/ Check her out, you will find something to love, I'm sure. Forever 21 is also a great place to pick up pieces, b/c they're super affordable and trendy, so you won't feel bad when it turns colors or was an impulse buy. It was probably only what, $4?  (oh, $2.80, as they price them there. lol!)
Thank you for stopping by, ladies, and let me know what your "uniform" consists of.  I'd love to hear it!!
Have a great weekend!!

xoxo

I'm not going to leave you hanging w/my outfit of the day, don't worry your pretty little heads. But first and foremost, I have to share that I am so excited to have found THE perfect nude gloss. Where? Sephora. I went in last night w/a friend and picked out a few, showed them to the makeup genius there, and she quickly pointed out to this one: Sephora collection, Lip Attitude- Glamour. color: dolce nude 20. Perfection! Creamy, doesn't get cakey (which I loathe...), and just is a pretty nude. I like!

p.s. my outfit will be a separate post - I've got to get back to work.

I recently found myself back on polyvore.com and figured one of the best ways to showcase my taste (haha) was to try to recreate my outfit of the day.  So here goes!  I wore exactly this outfit, w/pearl earrings I got at stein mart.  My bag is the same, but a different color -  an olive green from last fall & my shoes are suede, tan, peeptoes w/bows (xappeal).  I even bought a pair in red, but that's another fun outfit to show off! ;)  do you know about this site?  it's so fun!
